On May 18-22, 2008, over 2,500 industry captains and global leaders will convene in Kuala Lumpur for the 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), the world’s premier ICT event.

2008 AIIA ICT Salary Survey now available

The AIIA Salary Survey is Australia’s most comprehensive survey of ICT industry salary rates and provides an accurate insight into the current marketplace.  The March 2008 Survey has now been released, and is only available to AIIA members.

Produced by leading remuneration specialist CSi, it is drawn from the local industry over the past six months and provides the most recent data available on incumbent movements, total remuneration costs and real salary increases.

Review of national innovation system
Members' input sought

On 22 January 2008, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced a Review of Australia's national innovation system to be conducted by an expert panel chaired by Dr Terry Cutler. The terms of reference for the review are broad-ranging, recognising that innovation and creative problem solving involve not only the drivers of productivity and competitiveness within firms and industries, but also better ways to deliver public and community services.

Computer museum threatened

Australian Computer Museum Society (ACMS) members have preserved items that constitute part of Australia’s computing history since the 1960s. Various benefactors since 1994 have enabled the combined collection to exist and to grow by providing 200 sq.m. of  heavily subsidised warehouse space, most recently at Homebush and at Minto.

The Problem

ACMS must vacate its current 200 sq.m. site by March 31. ACMS does not have the funds to lease substitute warehouse space, and is seeking urgent financial support from industry and business.
