2008 AIIA Elections

The AIIA will soon be holding its annual elections; both for State Committees and for the National AIIA Board.  Voting in these elections is open to all full financial members of the AIIA, and all members are encouraged to take part in the elections by voting or standing for an elected position.

The National AIIA Board and State Committees play a vital role in setting the strategic objectives of your Association.  The National AIIA Board interacts at a very high level with major decision makers across Australia.  As a result the Board is only open to CEO membership.

Representatives for both the National AIIA Board and State Committees are voted for directly by the membership.  Only the representatives of full financial member companies of the AIIA at the close of the roll can stand and vote.

There are a number of open positions on the National AIIA Board this year up for re-election this year; having AIIA Board directors come up for election every year ensures continuity and succession.

Each National AIIA Board member is elected for a term of three years, so those elected this year will be up for re-election in 2012.

If you are interested in standing for the National AIIA Board, nominations open for candidature on 15 September and will close at COB on 26 September.  Voting will open in late October and run for about a week.

The National AIIA Board election results will be declared at the AIIA AGM which will be held on November 13.

If you're not a CEO, then getting onto the State Branch Committee is an excellent way to help shape the technology industry and set the strategic agenda for public policy.  Your local Executive Officer can help you with information regarding the state branch elections.

For more information about the election processes, contact AIIA’s Member Services Manager Grant Philpots on 0438 268 714.
