National E-Health Strategy
You are invited to contribute
The National E-Health and Information Principal Committee, a subcommittee of the Australian Health Ministers' Advisory Council, is responsible for providing e-health advice and information strategies, as well as promoting collaboration between the Commonwealth, States and Territories to implement these strategies. Deloitte has been commissioned by the Committee, on behalf of the Council, to develop a National E-Health Strategy. An opportunity to contribute to the strategy is now available.
The Strategy will provide:
-
a vision for and the desired outcomes of national action in e-health over the next 5-10 years
-
identification of the priorities and next steps for the development and implementation of a national e-health system
-
a practical roadmap for further national e-health development and implementation in this country, allowing prioritisation of existing and future investment in national e-health infrastructure and activities.
-
advice on the governance arrangements needed to oversight and manage national e-health projects and infrastructure.
Through senior industry representatives from the AIIA Healthcare Special Interest Group, AIIA was recently interviewed by Deloitte regarding the development of the the Strategy.
AIIA encourages your company to contribute to the planning, development and scope of this important national strategy; a survey on the Deloitte's website is now available through the link below. Submissions can also be provided through this website.

AIIA submission to the Gershon Review
AIIA made a detailed formal submission to the Independent Review of the Australian Government's Use of ICT (also known as the Gershon Review) on Friday 13 June, 2008. This Review has the potential to significantly change the environment in which the ICT industry does business with the Australian Government. AIIA devoted substantial effort to ensure that views representative of all members (including large multinational companies, major Australian organisations, SMEs and startups) were communicated to the Review; consequently, the submission was based on extensive industry consultation and feedback from members.
AIIA's submission is underpinned by three main themes:
-
the government will gain significant benefit from the consistent application of best practice in the acquisition, implementation, governance and use of ICT
-
best practice in all these areas should be developed through consultation with industry
-
central coordination of government ICT will deliver benefits in effectiveness, cost reduction project outcomes.
