AIIA members invited to see lobbying at work

For more than a decade, AIIA’s Board of Directors has met annually in Canberra to brief ministers, shadow ministers, key officials and other industry stakeholders on issues of priority to the ICT industry in Australia. These meetings are essential in maintaining both AIIA's and the ICT industry's high profile with decision makers.

AIIA Gold Coast Chapter a step closer

Gold Coast based companies are one step closer to their own AIIA Chapter.

AIIA is excited to be launching a Gold Coast Chapter, providing ICT companies on the Gold Coast with the opportunity to access AIIA’s national services, while focusing on local issues and activities.

AIIA has formed a steering committee, which includes members of the Gold Coast City Council, the Gold Coast Region IT Forum, the Queensland Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation and local ICT companies. The steering committee, led by interim Chairman Andrew Darby, will develop an action plan and establish a set of member values for what will be AIIA’s first regional chapter.

Chairman Andrew Darby is a co-founding Director of Resume IT Pty Limited and has more than 30 years’ experience in the ICT industry, particularly in the IT services and infrastructure management fields.

According to Mr Darby, AIIA Gold Coast will offer real tangible benefits for both small and large ICT organisations. “Like AIIA's branches, our Gold Coast Chapter will provide local advice and support for its members, with the benefit of a highly successful national network and secretariat support,” Mr Darby explains.

“Members of AIIA's Gold Coast Chapter will have access to AIIA’s large pool of resources, including its powerful lobbying group, industry updates and national surveys, such as the Salary Survey and Marketing Benchmarking Survey, which enable companies to benchmark against their competition.”

Mr Darby explains that the steering committee’s strategic plan will focus on launching CollabIT – AIIA’s newly developed program designed to help forge collaborative networks of like-minded companies to source new markets and increase sales – as well as an exciting events calendar and an industry support program.

“The Gold Coast is already rich in ICT innovation,” Mr Darby says. “We have a vibrant ICT industry promoted by both local and state government, as well as some exciting state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure in place.

“The members of the steering committee are enthusiastic supporters of AIIA and believe that AIIA's Gold Coast Chapter will be of tremendous benefit to the region,” Mr Darby concludes.
