Nominations for the ICT industry’s prestigious iAwards program - which recognises the entrepreneurial spirit of the Australian ICT industry and its influence across countless markets - will open today, Monday 30 October, 2006 for 2007 submissions.
Each year, AIIA stages the iAwards program to provide local companies and ICT students with a platform on which to showcase, and in many cases launch, Australia's ICT success stories.
“Being nominated for an iAward enables Australian companies to benchmark their ICT solutions and partnerships against the best Australia has to offer,” commented Rob Durie, Chief Executive Officer, AIIA.
In Australia, the application of technology helps drive economic productivity and innovation and impacts every part of our economy – from education, the environment and security to research and development, manufacturing, tourism and transport.
“It is important that the contributions made by innovative, leading edge ICT products and solutions are recognised across the economy, which is why the iAwards program – which presents awards in 19 different industry categories - is so significant,,” Mr Durie added.
Winning the 2006 iAward for Industrial Applications and the Innovative Commercial Software iAward has certainly been of enormous benefit to Codarra Advanced Systems Pty Ltd.
”When we won the iAward in 2006 we were in the midst of an extensive marketing campaign to the North American marketplace. The iAward wins helped us greatly, as they not only gave us a valuable reference site, but moreover, the fact that our product has been recognised by the leading industry association for ICT in Australia and is respected in our local marketplace was viewed very positively in the American marketplace,” commented Warren Williams, CEO of Codarra Advanced Systems Pty Ltd.
“We were also delighted that one of the iAwards sponsors, Microsoft, invited us to attend their Microsoft Partnering Conference in Boston and to participate in a workshop with some 400 companies whom they had flown in from all over the world. The opportunity to rub shoulders with so many companies, speak with Microsoft about potential partnering opportunities and showcase our product is something we would not have been able to do were it not for winning the iAwards.
“What’s more, we are currently in the process of signing a deal with a major US company, which will put our product on the world stage. The iAwards have helped us get there,” he added.
The 2007 iAwards will be presented at the iAwards gala dinner, held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 30 May, 2007.
All 2007 iAward winners will have the opportunity to go on to represent Australia at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA), which will be held in Singapore in November 2007.
Nominations for the 2007 program will close on Wednesday 21 March, 2007.
