The AIIA will soon be holding its annual elections; both for State Committees and for the National AIIA Board. Voting in these elections is open to all full financial members of the AIIA, and all members are encouraged to take part in the elections by voting or standing for an elected position.

Running an Australian technology company from the CEO perspective
Small Business September '08
Small Business September 08, an initiative of the NSW Department of State and Regional Development, is a month dedicated to helping owners and managers of small businesses better grow and manage their business. As part of this initiative, AIIA is producing a specialist event to focus on the challenges faced by SMEs in the ICT industry titled Running an Australian technology company from the CEO perspective, to be held on Wednesday 17 September 2008. This event will be sponsored by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
This event will bring together a panel of senior executives (Eddie Geller of Unique World, Stuart Espey of 3ivx Technologies, Kate Carruthers of Digital Business Group and Keith Dodds of Thoughtworks) in a discussion moderated by Martin Dare, Chair of the AIIA NSW Committee, to explore their insights and reflections on managing an Australian technology company, the lessons learnt, and the future of the industry. The Hon Joe Tripodi MLA, NSW Minister for Small Business will also be in attendance to meet industry executives and to acknowledge the value of ICT companies to the NSW economy.

.NET clusters at TechEd 2008
Last week in Sydney, under the auspices of AIIA’s CollabIT program, the ICT clusters Canberra.NET, Queensland.NET and NSW.NET organised an opportunity for their members to exhibit over the four days of TechEd, a major conference and exhibition in the Microsoft calendar. The Australia.NET stand comprised four pods, generously made available by Microsoft, enabling .NET cluster members to sign up for half day time slots at a very modest shared cost, for significant returns.

ACEC is the biennial conference of the Australian Council for Computers in Education. ACEC’08 is being hosted by the Computer Education Group of the ACT in partnership with the association of Catholic and Independent Teacher Librarians.
