National ICT Careers Week 2008
Running nationally all this week!
National ICT Careers Week 2008 is underway! Launched this morning in Sydney, National ICT Careers Week features in excess of 100 events, functions and activities. A complete listing of events in each state and territory is available on the National ICT Careers Week website.
National ICT Careers Week has been designed to introduce young people, their parents, mentors and careers advisers to the opportunities that exist in ICT not only within Australia but around the world. It is a fantastic opportunity to give students everywhere a genuine understanding of everything the industry has to offer, and the response from industry, government and the community.
'As Australia places a mounting emphasis on developing an information economy and increasing productivity though innovation, the ICT industry has become central to our aspirations as a nation,' AIIA CEO Ian Birks said at the launch. 'And one result is that the opportunities for ICT graduates have never been stronger. It is an exciting time to embark on a career in ICT, and the industry has a lot to offer the next generation of talented and creative students.'
National ICT Careers Week will be held in all states and territories from 28 July to 2 August 2008 as an initiative of the ICT Industry Leadership Group, co-hosted by the Australian Computer Society and the Australian Information Industry Association.
