Innovative Australian companies compete at prestigious Asian region high tech awards
Eleven innovative Australian companies – and one talented Queensland Year 12 high school student – will compete against Asia’s best and brightest at the annual Asia-Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) Summit in Singapore from 26-29 November.
Companies from Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart, the Gold Coast will be showcasing a wide range of technology, from an interactive learning touch-screen application developed by students for students, to a free website that helps you create and share cartoons in a few simple clicks, as well as a wireless device that delivers video, audio or data in seconds.

AIIA Victoria Committee elections and AGM
The AIIA Victorian team would like to announce the opening of the nominations for the 2008 Victorian Committee as of Friday 9 November 2007. Those eligible to nominate for the election must be Victorian-based employees of financial company members of the Association. The most senior Victorian representative in each financial AIIA member company is entitled to elect people to the Victorian Committee.

PEARCEY AWARD featured at VC Connect NSW
The 2007 NSW State Pearcey Award will be held at 5.30PM on Thursday 6th December 2007 at the Australian Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, Sydney in conjunction with VC Connect NSW.
This sought after Award will be presented at a VIP cocktail party sponsored by the Pearcey Foundation and held as the conclusion to the VC Connect event. Making the 2007 Award will be the Hon John Della Bosca, NSW State Minister for Education and Training as he has done for the past several years, actively promoting the role of ICT in the development of the Australian economy.
This award is a State award aimed at encouraging and rewarding fresh and innovative talent in the ICT profession. With the added benefit this year, of our best and brightest young ICT achievers also being showcased to the venture capital industry as part of VC Connect.
A cash grant will be awarded to an individual early in his or her career who has demonstrated innovative and pioneering achievement and a contribution to technological development. The NSW Award is supported each year by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development the North Sydney Institute, TAFE NSW and the NSW Branch of the Australian Computer Society.

Trevor Pearcey built Australia’s first and the world’s fourth electronic computer in 1948 in Sydney. It is the oldest surviving computer in the world. The Pearcey Foundation’s objective is to reinforce the recognition, knowledge and appreciation of Australia’s ongoing contribution to the development and growth of our ICT professions, research and industry.
