Collaboration the key to the Gold Coast

As the Gold Coast rapidly becomes one of Australia's ICT 'hot spots', AIIA continues to build our membership base in the region.

AIIA’s Queensland branch is enthusiastically supporting a membership drive to reach out to many new, innovative companies based on the Gold Coast; and to enhance AIIA's services to existing AIIA members in the region.

The Gold Coast has already received considerable support from local and state governments for infrastructure projects such as widespread access to high-speed broadband. Varsity Lakes is also being recognised as a success story in the development of an ICT-focussed business hub.

“In the months ahead, we’ll be working closely with the Gold Coast City Council, the Queensland Government and other industry bodies – through our Brisbane-based Queensland Committee – to create a buoyant, rich ICT industry in the region,” says AIIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Rob Durie.

“AIIA member companies on the Gold Coast will continue to benefit from AIIA’s national network of contacts, services and products, and will also enjoy offerings with a local flavour,” Mr Durie explains. “These will include Gold Coast-based events and some collaboration opportunities with the Gold Coast Regional IT Forum, Gold Coast City Council and the Information Industries Bureau as it makes sense.”

The Gold Coast region will be represented on the Queensland Committee through Andrew Darby of Resume IT and Zaff Bozkurt of Caimes, who are both based on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast members will be assisted through AIIA’s established executive office and event management services in Queensland, with strategic support through the national team and membership services support through Zaff Bozkurt.

“It is our intention to provide high-level value for AIIA Gold Coast members and the wider Gold Coast business community through events and industry development programs, which may incorporate our highly successful CollabIT model,” Mr Durie concludes.
