Training voucher scheme "welcome boost" for small ICT operators
The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has described the Coalition’s announcement boosting its training voucher scheme as a much-needed shot in the arm for small businesses.
“This is great news for SMEs in the ICT space,” said AIIA Chief Executive Officer Sheryle Moon. “One of the biggest obstacles to growth in our industry is the need to build capacity with operators and employees.
“There is an extraordinary entrepreneurial culture within ICT in Australia and it’s imperative we nurture that trend. As a venture grows it needs additional business, finance, sales and marketing skills and it is in these key areas that the Coalition has provided a welcome boost with the Work Skills Voucher program,” said Ms Moon.
“With many employers feeling the squeeze when it comes to skilled labour, it’s never been more important to invest in upskilling existing employees. This step by the Coalition is to be commended.”
AIIA runs an SME Entrepreneurs programs in conjunction with the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and industry mentors to help local Australian SME ICT businesses realise their potential.
