Progress on AIIA/AEEMA Merger

The boards of both AIIA and AEEMA met separately but concurrently last week to discuss the proposed amalgamation of the two associations.

Both boards have expressed a willingness to explore the possible merger further, and were pleased with the progress made so far.

iAwards Nominations to Open This Month

The AIIA’s prestigious iAwards are about to come around again with the call for nominations opening at the end of this month.

Candidates will be sought in 19 categories, including the highly prized Inspiration iAward which is decided from all the category winners.

The iAwards are presented to the most innovative nomination for developing ICT solutions in agriculture and primary industry, applications and infrastructure tools, communications applications, community education and training, e-government and services, financial applications, general applications, healthcare, industrial applications, media and entertainment, research and development, secondary student project, security, tertiary student project and tourism and hospitality as well as the overall winners for the Community, Local Industry and the Inspiration categories

Nominations for the awards will close on 23 February 2006 for the first phase of judging between 24 February and 1 March 2006. Finalists from the initial judging will be announced on 2 March 2006 prior to the second phase of judging on 15 and 16 March.

Each of the sections will be judged on specific criteria which can be reviewed on AIIA’s website.

The iAward winners will go on to the finals of the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) in Macau in October 2006 where they will compete against entrants from the other APICTA network countries, including Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
