Keeping Up to Speed with Connectivity

AIIA’s NSW Branch Committee has recently established a new Communications and Connectivity Special Interest Group (SIG) to explore and maximise business opportunities associated with broadband, communications and networks for ICT solutions and services.

According to convenor Graeme Smith (General Manager – Communication Sector for IBM Australia), AIIA’s NSW Committee received feedback from the ICT community that this is an area of interest.

Both the corporate and government sectors increasingly require integrated connections and centrally managed data warehouses, as well as process standardisation in the supply chain and optimisation of company business processes.

Both the corporate and government sectors increasingly require integrated connections and centrally managed data, as well as process standardisation in solutions such as workplace mobility, supply chain, Voice over IP, application interoperability and optimisation of company business processes.

“We believe there is a significant opportunity to be gained by exploring the communications and connectivity available through current technologies,” says Convenor, Graeme Smith.

“The SIG aims to bring value to both users and the member community,” Graeme explains. “We believe there is a significant opportunity to be gained by exploring the communications and connectivity available through current technologies. We’ll be looking at how innovation and architectural knowledge can be applied to get the best from existing infrastructures, and also what types of new initiatives could be implemented to deliver real commercial value to organisations.”

The SIG will build a charter and program of educational events, and in particular aims to identify the users and potential beneficiaries of integrated communications and connectivity. “We will look to understand the strategies and needs of potential beneficiaries, so that we may improve awareness across those markets, and help AIIA member companies to capture early opportunities with buying organisations,” he says.

Is your company interested in creating a shared connectivity forum for ICT organisations?

The first meeting of the SIG will be held on Friday, 29 July 2005. Meetings will be held bi-monthly on Friday from 8.00-9.30am in St Leonards, Sydney.

AIIA Marketing Guide for Smart SMEs

AIIA is excited to announce that the new SME Marketing Guide will be launched at Parliament House in August.

Most marketing workshops, seminars and manuals fail to recognise that SMEs have very different marketing needs to larger companies.
