Maximising the value of the National Broadband Network
Member involvement sought
The Australian Government is currently looking to engage the ideas of the Australian business and industry communities to maximise the value of the investment being made in the National Broadband Network.
As the first step, the Department of Broadband, Communication and the Digital Economy (DCBDE) will be holding a series of workshops in August that aim to identify the aspirations held by Australian industry for the NBN, along with the key business initiatives that will be required to realise these aspirations.
The workshops will be based around three core themes: Content, Confidence and Capability. These will broadly address industry identified priorities relating to applications, privacy and security, and skills and literacy issues respectively. The focus will be on identifying the priorities for Australia if we are to maximise the benefits of this transformational infrastructure as it approaches completion in 2013. The workshops will feed into a forum to be held later in this year.
AIIA attended meetings with DBCDE this week and will be providing input on behalf of members and the wider ICT community. The Department is looking for thought leaders with deep expertise from the ICT industry to take part. If members would like to be involved, please email AIIA CEO Ian Birks identifying your preferred workshop theme - limited places will be available. |
