New scheme to boost business opportunities for SME’s
AIIA and the Victorian Government are joining forces in an attempt to increase business opportunities for Victorian based ICT companies.
Working in partnership on AIIA’s new innovative partnering program, CollabIT, AIIA and Multimedia Victoria are calling for expressions of interest from companies interested in forming collaborative networks, or clusters, with like minded companies to source new markets and open avenues to increase sales.
At present, CollabIT is being implemented in Victoria but will be extended to include other states in the near future.
AIIA’s CEO, Rob Durie, says that CollabIT is part of AIIA’s vision to create a globally competitive local ICT industry by bringing like minded companies together to form collaborative business partnerships.
Mr Durie says CollabIT will provide small to medium enterprises (SMEs) opportunities which, under normal circumstances, would be out of their reach because of influences such as economies of scale.
“Forming project partnerships will allow SMEs to expand market opportunities by sharing knowledge and resources for joint tendering, identifying skills and synergies, planning for infrastructure and technology requirements and developing leads in new markets,” Mr Durie said.
“By knowing other individuals and organisations in the same industry sector or in complementary industries in the supply chain, opportunities will be heightened to involve others if a particular service or specialised resource is required,” he said.
Expressions of interest in the project are being sought from companies or individuals in Victoria’s ICT industry prior to an information session in February 2006.
As well as an ongoing review and implementation for the CollabIT program, there will be a number of informative forums including multinational linkages in March 2006, issues and opportunities in April 2006 and partnering action plans in May 2006.
