AIIA Government Business Taskforce Meeting

With the federal government alone spending an estimated $3.5B on ICT each year, it’s no surprise that doing business with government is a key objective for many ICT companies in Australia.

AIIA’s Government Business Taskforce (GBTF) spearheads AIIA's procurement policy development and implementation strategy. If your company is doing business with government (or would like to), you should consider representation on the GBTF.

Chaired by AIIA Director, Peter Kazacos, the GBTF takes the leadership role in meeting one of AIIA’s key priorities to improve government business opportunities for members and reduce the cost of participation in government markets.

“AIIA has enjoyed some tremendous wins recently, particularly with regards to the vexed issue of unlimited liability in government contracting,” Mr Kazacos says. “AIIA’s widely-read report, Better Practices, Better Outcomes was the direct result of contribution from members, and gained substantial traction with government.

“The GBTF aims to continue this momentum by focusing on one or two objectives over the next three to six months, and to successfully lobby both state and federal governments to develop procurement guidelines that will benefit all interested parties,” he says.

The GBTF actively lobbies for changes to procurement policy, offers members tools to assist their business and conducts a national series of events giving members an opportunity to meet with government buyers and learn of opportunities. Click here for more information.

Participating
The next meeting of the GBTF will be on Wednesday, 7 September from 2-4pm. The agenda for discussion includes (among other things) the framework and future of ProcureIT, liability and intellectual property issues in Commonwealth government contracting, plus the GITC revision.

Each of AIIA’s groups involved in aspects of government procurement, as well as all state branches are represented on this taskforce. All AIIA member companies are encouraged to participate.

For more information on how your company can be involved, contact David Kemp, AIIA’s Policy Manager on (02) 6281 9412.
