Technology positions Australian companies as global experts
From the desk of Sheryle Moon...
A new study reveals that Australian companies could position themselves as leaders in converting the transformative potential of technology into actual business benefit.
The Global Solution Perspective: Spotlight Australia report, prepared by Info-Tech Research Group and endorsed by the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), measured the attitudes of more than 1,100 survey respondents around the world, 120 of them from Australia.
The report found that Australia is well placed to compete in regional and global markets, particularly as our higher than average number of ICT workers with ‘dual role’ jobs enables our companies to understand the capabilities of technology and the opportunities to support critical business processes.
Significantly, the report has found that one of Australia’s key management strengths, in a global context, is our ability to translate technology into business benefits. By the end of the decade, this will provide Australian organisations with an important source of expertise-based advantage.
The report also found that, against the broader global backdrop, Australian SMEs possess an impressive level of IT sophistication that suggests the Australian business community has the potential to compete effectively within and beyond the Asia Pacific region.
In general, the report found that Australian organisations are confident in the ability of technology to support business operations and deliver competitive advantage.
The results from this survey reveal a global opportunity for Australian enterprises. Based on the findings of Global Solutions Perspective, Australian companies are using technology to achieve business efficiency, drive revenue, provide superior customer service and achieve competitive advantage.
