AIIA supports the ICT industry in the Canberra region
Australia’s peak ICT industry group, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) today announced that it is proudly supporting the Canberra region’s leading corporate event, Focus on Business 2006.
“We’re delighted to endorse this important business event, and encourage people from all ICT companies in the region to come along to find out how they can work with AIIA to improve the ICT business environment in the ACT,” says ACT Branch Chairman, Jack Radik.
AIIA has strengthened its support for ICT business in the Canberra region following the launch of AIIA’s ACT Branch in May this year. According to AIIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Rob Durie, the ACT branch provides a unified voice and represents the interests of AIIA member companies operating in the local market including small, medium and large companies.
The branch will be involved in a variety of issues of interest to companies in the region, including selling to government, industry development, education and skills, and security. “The ACT Branch is actively lobbying government, engaging with stakeholders and providing business tools and networking opportunities for local members,” Mr Radik explains.
Hosted by Business ACT, Focus on Business will be held between 13-15 September at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. The event gives local ICT businesses the opportunity to showcase and promote business successes to decision-makers from across Australia and the globe. In 2006 the theme of Focus on Business is ‘partnerships for growth’.
AIIA will welcome members and their invited guests to build business networks and opportunities at the ICT Breakfast Showcase from 7:30am on the 14 September. The 7:30-11:30am session includes:
- Keynote speaker Mr Anthony Wong, Commissioner for Innovation & Technology, Hong Kong Government;
- The launch of Canberra.Net;
- An informative panel session on ‘Partnering with multinationals - Find out what makes the big guys tick!’
. Hosted by AIIA, panel members include high level representation from Microsoft, IBM, EDS and CSC;
- A complimentary breakfast; and
- The opportunity to network and view the technology showcase.
“This is just one of many initiatives that AIIA’s ACT Branch will be undertaking in the coming months,” Mr Radik concludes. “We’ll be working together with the local ICT business community to ensure our industry continues to grow.”
