The National E-Health and Information Principal Committee, a subcommittee of the Australian Health Ministers' Advisory Council, is responsible for providing e-health advice and information strategies, as well as promoting collaboration between the Commonwealth, States and Territories to implement these strategies. Deloitte has been commissioned by the Committee, on behalf of the Council, to develop a National E-Health Strategy. An opportunity to contribute to the strategy is now available. National Employment Standards released In effect from 1 January 2010 The Australian Government has now released the new National Employment Standards, created as part of the Government's reform of workers' rights and the workplace relations system. The new Standards were released by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard on 16 June 2008 and will come into effect from 1 January, 2010. The NES defines the Australian workplace standards for maximum weekly hours of work, leave (including parental, annual, carer's, personal, long service and community leave), flexible working arrangements, termination and redundancy pay. A complete copy of the NES has been published at www.workplace.gov.au  |  AIIA submission to the Gershon Review AIIA made a detailed formal submission to the Independent Review of the Australian Government's Use of ICT (also known as the Gershon Review) on Friday 13 June, 2008. This Review has the potential to significantly change the environment in which the ICT industry does business with the Australian Government. AIIA devoted substantial effort to ensure that views representative of all members (including large multinational companies, major Australian organisations, SMEs and startups) were communicated to the Review; consequently, the submission was based on extensive industry consultation and feedback from members. AIIA's submission is underpinned by three main themes:
Details of the AIIA submission will remain in-confidence while the Review considers all submissions made as part of the consultation process; the written submission is the first part of this process. Next steps will include AIIA CEO Ian Birks and members of the AIIA Board of Directors meeting with Sir Peter Gershon next month in Canberra to provide additional context to the submission.
